You already know that lots of emotions and facial expressions make man and we are wired to notice these unintended expressions that sometimes last for a fraction of a second known as micro expressions. They usually take place in the middle of an expression and disappear superfast. This happens because we feel a lot of things emotionally and our faces exhibit this peculiarly to match with the way we might be looking on the inside sometimes unconsciously or without any plan of parading our emotions through our face.

Such is what micro expressions are and they are a part of us and take place in between an expression leaking some type of information on the face or during an intentional expression. Micro expressions can be very brief and due to their speed of occurrence, most people who are not conscious usually miss them. In fact, studies have shown that only less than ten percent of people notice micro expressions.

The reason why these superfast expressions are important to many people is because they are sometimes very accurate in telling the real intention or feelings of a person that the expression on the person’s face is not producing. Examples of micro expressions include a rugged fearsome guy flashing a millisecond of fear while a smiling girl seemingly attracted to you could give a sudden look of contempt in a fraction of a second before returning to the feigned look on her face.

However, it is important to note that whether we are conscious or not about these superfast expressions, they still affect how our brain registers an issue. For example, a person who is socially anxious is very quick to notice some micro expressions of fear that lead them to an anxious response once they realize other people are fearful, or what might have led you to decide you are not sure about her love for you.
